Use A Canon Digital Camera With Sparkbooth

Note: Using ExtraWebcam and your Canon camera will not work with the regular version of Sparkbooth. You will need to use the ExtraWebcam version to take high resolution photos with the Canon camera. The beta is over, and I am no longer developing or plan to distribute this version so I can pursue a more integrated solution.

I can give you access to the ExtraWebcam version of Sparkbooth if you meet the following requirements:

  • Running Sparkbooth on Windows XP, Windows Vista, or Windows 7
  • You have a Canon digital camera that is compatible with ExtraWebcam software. Please download ExtraWebcam, and verify that it works with your Canon digital camera
  • Understand that this version of Sparkbooth is experimental and may not work for all systems.
  • Understand that this version of Sparkbooth still requires a Sparkbooth license key to remove the watermark.

If you meet the requirements above, please contact me (with a private message) and provide the following:

  • What version of Windows you are running
  • What model Canon digital camera you have
  • A screenshot of ExtraWebcam verifying that it works with your camera

No Camera Detected on Mac

Adobe AIR has been updated to resolve this issue.

If you are running Sparkbooth on a Mac, do not update your Adobe AIR runtime to 2.5.1 which was released this week. Adobe AIR 2.5.1 for Mac seems to have broken the camera access.

If you do have 2.5.1 installed, you can go back to 2.5.0:

  1. Go to Applications/Utilities and run the Adobe AIR Uninstaller
  2. Go to http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/853/cpsid_85304.html
  3. Download the Adobe AIR 2.5.0 and install it
  4. Do not update to Adobe AIR 2.5.1 when prompted
